


Wild Life Sanctuary : Semarsot Wildlife Sanctuary
The sanctuary is located near Semarsot on the Ambikapur- Daltongunj road. Semarsot is about 50 kms from Ambikapur district headquarters of Surguja district. The nearest railhead is Jainagar near Ambikapur. The nearest airport is Varanasi 31 Kms. away. Garwah is 97 kms. away. The area is situated in the northern extension of Ramgarh hills in a north-easterly direction. The area has a border with Bihar state in the east. Tropic of Cancer passes through the area.

The species that generally occur are Shorea robusta, Terminalia alata, Terminalia chebula, Terminalia arjuna Terminalia bellerica, Lagerstroemia parviflora, Anogeissus latifolia, Adina cordfolia, adhuca indica, Emblica officinalis, Butea monosperma, Pterocarpus marsupium, Grewia species etc.
Wild Life Sanctuary:Tamor Pingla Wildlife Sanctuary
The sanctuary is situated in Surguja district bordering with Uttar Pradesh. Moran river draining into Govind Ballabh Pant Sagar in Uttar pradesh passes through the sanctuary. The sanctuary is about 100 kms from Ambikapur. Pimpri are nearest railheads on the Shaheol, Jainagar and Bhishampur are at a distance of 150 kms.. The area has less of communications. The area drains into Govind Ballabh Pant Sagar reservoir in Uttar Pradesh.

Sal and mixed deciduous forest types occur in the sanctuary. The important species are Shorea robusta, Pterocarpus marsupium, Terminalia alata, Terminalia chebula, Terminalia bellerica, Terminalia arjuna, Anogeissus latifolia, Diospyros melonoxylon, Diospyros chloroxylon, Emblica officinalis, Soymida febrifuga, Dendrocalamus strictus, Butea monosperma, Bauhinia species cassia fistula, Grewia species, Gymnosporia spinosa etc.
WildLife
As per the 1997 estimates, there were 11 tigers and 15 leopards in the sanctuary. The other animals are Nilgai Chital, Sambar, Sloth Bear, Chinkara, Wildboar, Jungle cat, Fox and a variety of reptiles and birds.
